Description
Wanderlust Hostel in Floersheim, suburb of Mainz, only 13km (25 min by S1 subway) from the downtown of Mainz . Off the beaten track.

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of a rural, idyllic town between vineyards of Rhine Valley and modern metropoles. Access to the public transit system is guaranteed, making any of these 3 destinations accessible to you:

- 25min by subway to the downtown of Frankfurt
- 20min by subway to the downtown of Wiesbaden
- 25min by subway to the downtown of Mainz

Floersheim, nowadays a part of Greater Frankfurt, is still surrounded by gentle hills covered by vineyards, foot and cycle paths. The waterfront invites strollers to sit down and watch the passing boats on their way up the river to the big ports of Frankfurt or down to the old roman city of Mainz with its impressive romanesque cathedral.

Enjoy wine tasting in our Rheingau region: you can drink home made products on a little winemaker's farm after half an hour bike trip around the hostel. You can get quite good wine for very little money, accompanied by hearty basic food like sausage or cheese.

Rent a bike with multilingual GPS navigation to make your day trips easier: all the sights, restaurants and some routes are preinstalled!

The hostel also has its own restaurant priced right for a backpacker's budget.

Join our „Beer & Wurst“ BBQ party in the hostel yard and taste the different German specialities !

Wanderlust Hostel Reviews on Other Websites
5 The staff was really helpful. It's a family hostel, the breakfast is excellent. They offer their bikes for free. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. By taking the train, it's easy to get to Mainz and Frankfurt. I love that place for vacations.   — Pei Ru Chen (2011-12-03) Hostelbookers
5 This was a wonderfully quaint place to stay. The owner and his sister were super friendly and helpful. When we arrived the owner sat us down and showed us all of the sights of the area and all of our transport options. They had brochures that they had made themselves for all of the cities and sights of the area...so handy! Then he let us use bikes for the day whenever we wanted. The rooms were nice enough. We were supposed to be in a 4-bed dorm room but since there was no one else booked in it they upgraded us to a 2-person room for free. The rooms had a tv. Wifi worked everywhere, most of the time... The bathrooms was small but clean. Could maybe use another shower. I was ok for us but there might be a wait if the place was full.   — Kristin Padget (2011-10-27) Hostelbookers
5 I loved this place. I arrived tired and with a cold from the Frankfurt book fair and was delighted to find a cosy, clean room with piping hot water and a flatscreen TV. The breakfast next morning was basic but very tasty, and the overall service was great. The woman who runs the hostel was extremely friendly and gave me lots of tips for sightseeing and activities. Though I had cancelled the first night of my stay at short notice, she refused to take a cancellation fee. This place was amazing value for money and I had an enjoyable stay. Also, it's only 30 minutes by train from the centre of Frankfurt.   — Stephen Roche (2011-10-16) Hostelbookers
5 Cool owners, relaxed environment, great location (vineyards just up the hill, great views).   — Samuel Park (2011-10-11) Hostelbookers
3 Free bike rental and friendly and informative staff. Also breakfast is provided   — Customer review (2011-09-02) Hostelbookers
5 It was absolutely fantastic! A bit far out from the city, but no problem for us as it was free on InterRail passes, it was easy to get to (although I admit the first time we did almost get lost) and it's actually really nice to stay somewhere more quiet. We also went out to a local pub which was great ... you see a more realistic side of Germany, not the modern tower blocks and plastic shop fronts. Unbelievable value for a great place. Can't recommend it enough! The guy was really helpful, awesome breakfast included, all sorts of books and a laptop put into your hands, and a nice way to meet people you're travelling with.   — Customer review (2011-08-03) Hostelbookers
5 Staff offered very helpful advice, rooms were very clean, highly recommended.   — Customer review (2011-07-31) Hostelbookers
4 friendly staff ,quite clean and everything is good   — Customer review (2011-07-08) Hostelbookers
5 The host, Andrei, was very helpful and showed me useful and interesting things to do in the places I wanted to go, even printing off maps for me when he didn't have one of a specific area. Breakfast was homemade and free, and Andrei also let me use a bike for free. He showed me a lovely bike route along the Main and the Rhein to Mainz through the wine country. The hostel is very near the Flörsheim train station, which connects to Frankfurt am Main and Wiesbaden (from which you can get to Mainz). I ended up in a two-bed room by myself with a TV and a wardrobe, despite booking a dorm, which was nice. Overall, I had a very good experience at Wanderlust, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.   — Customer review (2011-06-18) Hostelbookers
5 Great breakfast, the owner informs you about a lot of things over the region, free bicycle "renting" and good room, a well equiped guest ktichen   — Karl Fauteux Bessette (2011-06-18) Hostelbookers
5 For road travelers like me, it's perfect. Not far from the main highway, still close to Frankfurt. The owner was quite friendly, helpful and gave nice tips for places to visit around (Sinsheim museum was awesome!)   — Customer review (2011-06-15) Hostelbookers
4 The staff was awesome, I couldn't have asked for better. They were genuine, not putting on a friendly show but legitimately wanting to help out and all. The free breakfast was wonderful, the town was gorgeous, and there were plenty of travelers coming and going---and with the close atmosphere, it was easy to start conversations with the others and learn about different cultures.   — Customer review (2011-06-14) Hostelbookers
5 Most beautiful little town I have ever stayed at. Just a 30min train ride to the Beautiful Rhine & Mossel. The owners are adorable and very helpful; they lent (not rented) us bikes for the day and we biked around the city between vineyards. Definitely recommended for anybody looking for a very quite and relaxing stop.   — Guy Raz (2011-06-14) Hostelbookers
4 The owner was very friendly and helpful. He chatted to us after dinner for a long while and gave travel advice. The rooms were very clean and and nicely decorated. I stayed in the female dorm and there was a TV inside. Breakfast was good too.   — Florence Phun (2011-06-09) Hostelbookers
4 They offer a free bike rental   — CAN CUI (2011-05-03) Hostelbookers
4 The host Andrei was wonderfully informative and welcoming. He spoke perfect English even drove us to dinner at a local winery. The beds were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and there was access to internet.   — michelle micheal (2011-05-02) Hostelbookers
5 Great value for the money, plus Andrei and his staff continuously went above and beyond with customer service to make our stay very enjoyable. As a first time hostel user my wife and I had a wonderful time at Wanderlust and would highly recommend this facility to friends and family planning a trip to the Floersheim/Mainz area.   — Customer review (2011-04-12) Hostelbookers
4 Andrea (the owner) was absolutely fabulous. He was a wealth of information concerning everything from good eats, to bike trails, to local hotspots, to well everything concerning Mainz and the surrounding area. He went above and beyond for myself and my partner while we were on the trip (also I noted he did the same for all the other guests as well). He set us up with FREE bike rentals that allowed us to view the abslutely gorgeous german countryside at our own pace. He gave us trail maps and tips and how to make the most of our day in Mainz. It was extremely enjoyable. The hostel was clean and secure. Plus the free breakfast was lovely!   — Customer review (2011-04-10) Hostelbookers

5  Good value and nice place to stay Great Hosts, very helpful and pleasant. It was also very cheap with a free breakfast! The location very handy next to a train station. Borrowed bikes the next day and followed a very easy route into Mainz. Lovely stay off the beaten track.  , Germany ()
