• Langeland is a long, narrow island, about 60 km (37 miles) from north to south, located southeast of Funen. It can be reached from Funen by bus or car via bridges and the islands of Tåsinge and Siø. Rudkøbing is centrally located and the largest town on the island, and the first place you get to when travelling to Langeland via aforementioned route. Rudkøbing is only 20 km (12 miles) from the town of Svendborg on Funen, which has a train station.
• Langeland can also be reached from Germany by boat, there's a ferry service between the German city of Kiel and the village of Bagenkop at the southern tip of the island. A ferry between Spodsberg on the west coast of Langeland and Tårs on Lolland connects the island to eastern Denmark, including Copenhagen. And you can visit the beautiful island of Ærø from here, using the ferry that runs between Rudkøbing and Marstal on the east coast of Ærø.
• The hostel is located close to the centre of Rudkøbing, and is a great place to serve as a central starting point to check out Langeland as well as Tåsinge, Funen, Ærø, Lolland and perhaps also Kiel in Germany - there are many things to see and do in all these areas. Rudkøbing itself is not a particularly interesting place.
