Sparkys is NEWLY set up in Sparkys (Craigs) Home , We offer a Warm Friendly small on size BIG on Atosmosphere , Our theme was "Off The Rails" but Now we have a collection of props from "The Worlds Fastest Indian" Movie starring Anthony Hopkins , the DVD is showed @ night if requested . If fine at Night we hold a Kiwi BBQ , BYO you Cook - Bon Fire in our Back Yard . Any person is welcome to stay @ Sparky's Place as long as they get on with other people The World is to small and Life is to short to not enjoy it !
We are looking forward to setting up a Spa Pool / Hot Tube in our Yard sometime in 2009 which will be good to soke those tyed bones after Cycling the Catlins or Tramping Fiordland or maybe Stewart Island "Rakiura National Park"

One of the friendliest backpackers I've stayed at. Really homey atmosphere; small hostel so eveyone hangs out together. Also very clean: no shoes in the house! Sparky is a funny guy. He made his famous chocolate cake one of the nights I was there and it's an experience I'll never forget!

This is an example of how all backpackers hostels should be like, the charm and character of the building and inside reflect on the owner, Sparky, a character who will be willing to do anything for u and help in any way. The bonfire n beers in his beer shed complex out the back were brilliant. A truely memorable stay, highly recommend a visit.

You don't just get a night's accommodation when u stay in Sparky's Hostel, you also get a nights entertainment.
Sparky is really quirky and fun and showed the guests how to make microwave chocolate cake using only 3 ingredients, with lots of jokes thrown in.
