The Hostelz.com Review
From Tofo village walk down the beach for 15 minutes and you'll see the bamboozi bar on your left beautifully set on top of a dune overlooking the sea. Behind that small dune lulled by the Indian Ocean is Bamboozi Backpackers.

Hidden in a thick palm grove there are dorms and private rooms, ablution facilities, common kitchen, and the reception block, all built with local materials (palm leaves and wood). The "classroom" of the on-site dive shop can be used as video lounge on demand and there's a book swap system to prevent you from getting bored whilst sunbathing. All beds have mozzie nets (checked and repaired costantly) and are made daily. The showers and toilet right in front of the main dorm are spotless clean. And there's hot water, but only from 5pm (17:00) on (they heat the water up with fire wood). The common kitchen is a bit on the basic side (a "bring your own matches to light the gas stove" kind of kitchen). Meals in the bar/restaurant on top of the dune are cheap and worth a try.

You enter paradise and leave the world behind. And this also means that you won't find any internet access and any proper road, and that to the closest phone booth is a 15-20 minute walk away. It is a beautiful place to stay but the lack of proper common areas makes it so that you can feel a bit lonely. If you're on your own it can be difficult to meet and connect with people.

Fantastic
I stayed here with a Overlandtruck of Nomad and had the best evening of my Mozambique-Tour! Thanks to the crew of the bar for all.

Fantastic
very well organised as there is taxis that collect you from the boat from the main land free of charge (even if you had not booked a room). just tell them you are going to bamboozi (be careful as some will try to charge but bamboozi pay for certain taxis). excellent facilities and excursions. friendly staff and only a fifteen-minute walk (along a beautiful beach) to tofo village. nothing bad to say about this resort. Enjoy.

probably one of the most picturesque places i've ever been! the sky at night is a sight to be seen, the people are amazingly friendly and very helpful! the price, unbelievable (it's dirt cheap) and the locals are great fun too! hoping to spend part of my honeymoon there, i loved it that much! Fantastic!

Absolutely great! Clean backpackers, beautifully located with pickup service from town and a great bar with ocean view. When I get back to mozambique I will surely stay there again!

This is the chilliest and most beautiful place I stayed in. Chill out in the hammock and let the bird talk to you after looking at the dolphins for hours. Then have the brilliant and cheap food and have one Manica or five!!! But watch out for the sand bumper. The old LP tells you that you need a 4-wheel drive for Mozambique, which is not true anymore, at least for a big part of the coastal region. But the 3 kilometers from the town center to this hostel is quite sandy. Make sure to drive fast so you don't get stuck. Enjoy!!!

The premium location and setup of the Bar at Bamboozi make it the best place to stay in Tofo. The accommodation is also of a top quality. All other facilities are great, with the exception of the kitchen, which is ok. I would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Tofo to stay here.

This is the best backpacker I ever stayed at in southern Africa. I ended up working there for an extra month because I couldn't get myself to leave. It has a great atmosphere, food, drinks, location, and vibe. Play chess or do body shots. Surf, scuba, snorkel, see whales, interact with the locals, or play volleyball. I can't wait to go back.

This lodge has the best of both worlds — it's excellent for backpackers and FANTASTIC for families, too. With their new chalets recently completed, this lodge is an ideal family holiday. The staff are brilliant and the food is amazing — highly recommended!!!

I disagree with Hostelz.com's review of this place. At the Bamboozi bar I met some of the most memorable characters of my entire six-month travels in Africa. We rented a small hut, which set us back next to nothing. The food was good, the staff were friendly, and you can pop down the beach in the evenings for beach parties at Dino's beach bar. (If you ask nicely he might come for a smoke with you!) They are eager to set you up with anything you need. I forgot the guy's name who runs the place, but he's really cool and will keep you up to date on anything you need to know about. By far this place was the highlight of my travels, thanks to the staff, the locals, the views and to the anonymous travelers who served as best friends for a few days. Cheers!

Nice place, great setting, and a beautiful beach. I spent a week here and had a fantastic time. My only caution is for those in the dorms/huts: The kitchen is not very good. There are hardly any plates/pots/cutlery so you better take along all your own stuff as if you were camping. There was a lot of construction work going on, so many improvements are in the pipeline.
